About the proposed lease

Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 5+5 years lease and licence for Tea Tree Studio.

Tea Tree Studio was established in 1978 and is located at 30 Crouch Road, Golden Grove. They are a volunteer-run, not-for-profit studio that offer pottery activities. They have 40 members and 100 casual members.

If approved, the proposal would mean Tea Tree Studio will be granted a 5-year lease and licence, with an option for a 5-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council.

A lease over the studio (as highlighted in red) would allow Tea Tree studio continued exclusive use over this facility. The communal area of the shed would be under a licence agreement, allowing for continued community use outside of the designated times (please refer to the map in the next tab).

The proposed lease fee is expected to be similar to the current lease fee ($1217 per year) and would be determined by the subsidy criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.

Tea Tree Studio has been a responsible tenant who has maintained the facility to a good standard and is a respected community organisation in the City of Tea Tree Gully.
