About the proposed lease

Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 10+10 years lease for the Tea Tree Players.

The Tea Tree Players were established in 1976 and are located at Tilley Recreation Park, 412-414 Hancock Road Surrey Downs. They have an estimated 57 members, and host performing arts activities and theatre productions. They are affiliated with the Theatre Association of South Australia (TASA).

If approved, the proposal would mean the Tea Tree Players will be granted a 10-year lease, with an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council. A lease over the theatre and shed would allow the Tea Tree Players continued exclusive use over these facilities (please refer to the map in the next tab).

The proposed lease fee is expected to be similar to the current lease fee ($1 per year) and would be determined by the subsidy criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.

The Tea Tree Players have been responsible tenants who have maintained the facility to a good standard and are a respected community organisation in the City of Tea Tree Gully.
