About the proposed lease

Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 10+10 years lease for Scouts SA - Hope Valley.

Scouts SA – Hope Valley was established in 1964 and has been located at Tolley Reserve, 66-72 Barracks Road Hope Valley, since 1981. They offer scouting and other associated activities. They are affiliated with Scouts SA and Scouts Australia. Scouts SA have 597 members statewide.

If approved, the proposal would mean Scouts SA – Hope Valley will be granted a 10-year lease, with an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council. A lease over the buildings and sheds would allow Scouts SA – Hope Valley continued exclusive use over these facilities (please refer to the map in the next tab).

The proposed lease fee is expected to be similar to the current lease fee ($1 per year) and would be determined by the subsidy criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.

Scouts SA – Hope Valley have been responsible tenants who have maintained the facility to a good standard and are a respected community organisation in the City of Tea Tree Gully.
