The Hope Valley Sporting Club is located in the Hope Valley Sports Area at 66-68 Valley Road, Hope Valley.

The Club incorporates the Hope Valley Football Club (HVFC) and the Hope Valley Cricket Club (HVCC). Both are amateur teams founded in the early 1900s. The Club has a membership of 395 as of March 2025.

If approved, the proposal would mean that the Hope Valley Sporting Club will be granted a 10-year lease and licence, with an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council.

A lease over the clubrooms and undercover spectator viewing area, changerooms and canteen would allow the Hope Valley Sporting Club continued exclusive use over these facilities.

The oval and fences, cricket pitches/nets, and shed would be under a licence agreement. This allows for continued community use of the oval and cricket pitches/nets outside of the designated times (refer to the map on the next tab).

The proposed lease fee is expected to be similar to the current lease fee ($1 per year) and would be determined by the subsidy criteria within Council’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.

The club has been a responsible tenant who has maintained facilities to a good standard and is a respected community organisation in the City of Tea Tree Gully.

The proposed 10+10 years lease and licence period is designed to provide organisations with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability.
