Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 10+10 year lease & licence for the Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club (TTGTC), Banksia Park.

Click on the tabs below for more information.

Background

The Tea Tree Gully Tennis Club (TTGTC) is located at 88-100 Elizabeth Street, Banksia Park and has been around for 80 years.

The TTGTC has over 250 members which consist of players across junior, senior, ladies and social competition. A new facility for the tennis club is currently being built, with expected completion by late 2025.

What's being proposed?

If approved, the proposal would mean the TTGTC will be granted a 10-year lease and licence with an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council for the new building and three sets of courts.

A lease over the new building and the set of courts either side of this building at Banksia Park would allow the TTGTC continued exclusive use of these facilities. The tennis courts adjacent to Elizabeth Street would be under a licence agreement, allowing for continued community use outside of the designated times the courts are currently in use (see map on this page).

The proposed lease & licence tenure of 10+10 years is designed to provide the TTGTC with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability. It is anticipated a peppercorn lease will apply providing the organisation meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.
