Background

Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 10+10 year lease for the Tea Tree Gully Senior Citizens Club (TTGSCC). The TTGSCC is located at 13-15 Leslie Crescent, Tea Tree Gully and was established in 1972.

The TTGSCC has 160 members and offers a variety of activities for seniors in the community designed to foster connection within the club. Activities include:

  • Teaching mobility to promote health and wellbeing
  • Carpet bowls and snooker for recreation and social interaction, and
  • Ballroom dancing to encourage fitness and enjoyment

What's being proposed?

If approved, the proposal would mean the TTGSCC will be granted a 10-year lease (as well as an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council). This would allow the TTGSCC continued exclusive use of the building in Tea Tree Gully. There are no changes to the leased area (see map on this page).

The proposed lease and licence tenure of 10+10 years is designed to provide the TTGSCC with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability. It is anticipated a peppercorn lease will apply providing the club meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.
