Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 10+10 years lease for the Tea Tree Gully Returned & Services League (TTG RSL).

Click on the tabs below for more information.

Background

The TTG RSL supports the veteran community in Tea Tree Gully and surrounding areas, and is located at 18-28 Memorial Drive, Tea Tree Gully.

The TTG RSL has been in existence since 1937, and currently has 159 members made up of Service, Affiliate, Social and Community Members. The RSL provides services including welfare and pension support for ex-service people and their families, social and recreational activities to foster connection, and commemoration activities, such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, as well as other significant events. The TTG RSL also assists with maintenance of the Memorial Garden as a tribute to those who have served.

What's being proposed?

If approved, the proposal would mean the TTG RSL will be granted a 10-year lease (as well as an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council). This would allow the TTG RSL continued exclusive use of the building at Tea Tree Gully. There are no changes to the leased area.

The proposed lease tenure of 10+10 years is designed to provide the TTG RSL with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability. It is envisaged a peppercorn lease will apply providing the organisation meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.

For more information please refer to the Information sheet and aerial map showing the location of the proposed lease area for the Tea Tree Gully RSL.
