Council decisions/outcomes

During the consultation period, a total of 32 responses were received. Of these responses 31 were in support and one opposed.

At its meeting on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, Council considered the feedback received from the community and made the decision to grant a 5 year lease (as well as an option for a 5 year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council) to Tango Netball Club Incorporated providing them with exclusive use of the building and tennis courts.

The lease terms and conditions include:

  • the lease fees shall be initially $1.00 with annual CPI increases on the yearly anniversary date
  • any other terms and conditions as set out in accordance with Council’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy and
  • any other terms and conditions as deemed necessary by Council’s Chief Executive Officer or their nominated delegate which are required for this specific lease and site.

Background

Located at 34-42 Heysen Avenue, Hope Valley, Tango Netball Club Incorporated (TNCI) was established in 1946 and is the only northern and north-eastern Premier League Netball Club in South Australia.

TNCI currently have 348 members and compete across the Netball SA Premier League, the Adelaide Metropolitan Netball Division competitions, SA Men's and Mixed Netball Association, and the South Australian Districts Netball Association. Teams compete in the winter and summer seasons.

What's being proposed?

If approved, the proposal would mean TNCI will be granted a 5-year lease (as well as an option for a 5-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council). This would allow TNCI continued exclusive use of the building and four courts (see map on this page).

It is anticipated a peppercorn lease will apply providing the organisation meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.
