Background

Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 10+10 year lease for the South Australian District Netball Association (SADNA). SADNA is an incorporated body which was established in 1958 that provides a home for netball in Adelaide’s North-Eastern suburbs.

Located on Atlantis Drive, Golden Grove, SADNA operates from an area which includes 20 netball courts and a kiosk and hall facility. SADNA has two seasons every year, being Summer and Winter. Summer season commences early October through to April, with matches played on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings and consists of approximately 280 teams. Winter season commences early May through to September, with matches played Monday and Tuesday evenings, and Saturday afternoons, and has approximately 230 teams.

What's being proposed?

If approved, the proposal would mean SADNA will be granted a 10-year lease (as well as an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council). This would allow SADNA continued exclusive use of the courts and building (see map on this page).

The proposed lease tenure of 10+10 years is designed to provide SADNA with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability. It is anticipated a peppercorn lease will apply providing the organisation meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.
