Based on community feedback some changes to the plan include:

  • Change the material of the path to concrete from the corner of Dewer and Shepherd to the shelter
  • Change the existing swing seats to more inclusive seat/s
  • Add a bench seat adjacent to the path in the south western corner
  • Investigate nature play and intergenerational equipment that can also be used as adult exercise equipment
  • The provision of a basketball half court be considered in the Modbury Sports Area masterplan, adjacent to the existing skate park

Please refer to the Council report for additional Council staff comments regarding other key suggestions received.

Background

We are currently seeking feedback from the community about proposed upgrades to Dewer Reserve in Ridgehaven.

Dewer Reserve in Ridgehaven is located in the Modbury Precinct, and serves a relatively large residential population, with an employment area to the west and an aged-care facility to the north.

A proposed upgrade of Dewer Reserve aims to provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming open space that can be enjoyed by the whole community.

The proposed plan includes minor upgrades to the existing local-level playground (including an intergenerational play and exercise area), park furniture, additional lighting, shade structure, drink fountain, landscaping and additional pathways.

Dewer Reserve is part of the Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) for Ridgehaven. This CLMP does not currently note the inclusion of shade structures/shelters. Should this infrastructure be installed as proposed the Ridgehaven CLMP would need to be amended to reflect this change. A draft amended plan is available to view.
